Artist's Comments

This piece isn't as old as the Tales of Symphonia ones, but it sure as heck ain't recent neither...I was working on my fanfiction "The Adventures Of Sherlock Brain" at the time, and since it had been a requestfic and it had been taking me a REALLY long time (all in all, it ended up taking 6 months and then some to finish), I drew this for the request-er as an apology. The quote is a line I thought was going to put in the fanfic, but then I ended up never doing it...

At the time, I'd also thought that the "Brain plays Sherlock Holmes" concept was a totally original one and I was so proud of myself for coming up with it...then I went on deviantART for about the first time, searched "Pinky and the Brain", and after the first few pages of results I foung *two* totally different pictures of that very same idea. :tears: And then, after I'd finished posting the story, someone sent me a link to another story entitled "The Adventures Of Sherlock Brain". So yeah, it's sad. For me anyways.

*pat pat* Tis okay, I'm sure your fic was the bestly bestest. (Never read it, but. . . XD Maybe one day when I have time, which I never do. . . >_<;).

I remember seeing this one on your site; I like the background. And good job on Pinky the Mouse's head. XD And Brain's too. Although it's strange to see him smiling so. . . not awkwardly. O.o Kind of attractive. *shot*

Kidding.

Or am I. . .?

Oh yeah. I went there.

Brain is smiling smugly because his large head harbors just as big an ego, and he feels rather proud of his abilities to "take over the mantle of Sherlock Holmes". And don't worry, I wasn't the one holding the gun that shot you. ;) (It's because of Maurice LaMarche's voice...GADS I love that man's vocal cords.)
:iconpinkys1985:
P'sh. . .wish I had abilities to take over the mantle of Sherlock Holmes. . . *Gaz impression! Whoot!*

who's Maurice LaMarche. . . ?

...:explosion:

*GASP* MAURICE LAMARCHE IS THE VOICE ACTOR FOR THE BRAIN! AND SQUIT FROM THE GOODFEATHERS SKITS! AND FATHER IN KIDS NEXT DOOR! AND, IN THE TICK, "MR. SCHMARTYPANTS" THE EVIL DOLPHIN AND PIGLEG/THE DEADLY BULB!!!!!!!!!

*pantpantpant*

ALONG WITH ROB PAULSEN, JIM CUMMINGS AND MEL BLANC, HE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST VOICE ACTORS OF ALL TIME! AND HIS SINGING VOICE IS GODLY!!!

...

Sorry, I get hyperactive over stuff like that...BUT NOW YOU ARE ENLIGHTENED.
:iconpinkys1985:
*shrinks back, trembling* Yes ma'am. . . O_o;;;

I knew it was the same voice actor for Brain and Father, just didn't know the name. I RARELY DO. FORGIVE ME, OH ILLUSTRIOUS ONE.

HAH, Pinky's got a mustache 8D I dunno why I love that, I just do... and yowza, Brain's lookin' pretty sharp in that detective garb! :3 I really need to draw a detective char sometime - I just loove deerstalkers and their matching coats(are they trench coats? 'cause trench coats are another clothing item I feel are full of win. a deerstalker/trench coat combo is, like, my dream outfit <3 o.O). Anyways, back to the pic. While the lighting seems a little inconsistent in some areas(and I'll refrain from critique since the descrip says this is an old pic), the background works well - makes the characters stand out. And it's all epic-like. Yeah. >D And there you go again with the neat expression and cute way of drawing ears... rawr. Just rawr. x}

Oh yeah, I remember seein' the title of your Sherlock Brain fic on ff.net. Haven't read it, but I shall, when life's less busy(I'm soo looking forward to the summer - 11th grade just sorta kicks you with the awakening realization that you're really going to college in two years and your childhood is officially over. *shiver* @.@; ). Not to rub salt in the wound, but it's not only the fans who've thoguht of the idea - I just recently bought soem P&tB comics off of ebay and one of them features the two as Holmes and Watson - Pinky narrating as the latter, and Snowball was the deadly Dr. Moriarty(or however you spell that dude's name). It also had your joke with the line"the game is a foot", but different. When Brain said that to Pinky, Pinky asked what game(something along the lines of "Monopoly?" I believe). Frankly, I like your better, lol >.> :B Also, your Pinky has a cute mustache. :heart: SO NYEH.

I know how you feel about Pinky with a mustache...I'm the same way with Brain and mustaches... >.>

One of my biggest problems in coloring is from lighting, so I know where you're coming from with that. More often than not, I'll just shade where I think the shading would look best, rather than defining any light sources...I'm trying to work on that, but it's hard when I want so badly to just be lazy. :(

Do you know which issue has the Sherlock Brain story...? I'm a huge fan of the comics, but I don't have anywhere NEAR all the issues, and I happen to be going to a comic convention this coming month...
:iconmissuspatches:
Haha, yeah I know what ye mean - Brain + hair = cuute~! :giggle:

Well, you're a growin' artist - you still have time to develop some cool shadin' skillz ^^ I started out going by instinct and since then, I've come a ways; at least I think I have xP Besides, you've seemed to've improved already - the shading on your Raj pic with the peeps looks great and that Kid's Next Door Valentines pic is just beautiful~ :heart: Don't be discouraged - you're doin' fine =]

'Kay, as for the issues of the Sherlock story... hmm, it's a lil hard to tell, but I'd say it's issue #11. It has a parody of Fantasia in it, too(with Pinky on the front cover commanding a whole bunch of wooshy waves :D). If you want, I could direct you to a site where you could download all the comics for free. >.> But if you like to read the comics as you buy 'em that's cool.

...did you say 'comic convention'? I've always wanted to go to one of those! o.o When/where is it? Maybe I'm close~ *crosses fingers* >.<

Ummm...it's April 18th to the 20th, in New York City... here's the website url: [link] It's a really huge convention, and a lot of fun, and if you know where to look you can find all sorts of really neat stuff. :D

And thanks for offering the link, but I do prefer to buy comics when I can. ...I dunno. It's just something about being able to hold it in your hands while you're reading it.
